All Saints is a Parish Church in the Church of England serving the central area of Gosforth. It is a diverse, friendly and inclusive church community of about 400 people that seeks to explore, live and share the love of God and the good news of Jesus in a variety of ways.
We offer a number of styles of worship from formal choral liturgy to modern informal worship and provide a range of discussion, learning and social activities to suit all ages. While our major services are on Sundays, there is also a regular pattern of prayer, worship and other activities, along with a regular programme of silent meditations, group discussions, social activities and excursions. It’s a busy mix, but All Saints’ seeks to give people – all people – space both to question and to try to understand the meaning of religious faith.
The learning and enquiry does not stop with the adults, however; for children there is a play corner in church and a large Sunday School (‘Young Saints’) providing hands-on crafts, drama, storytelling and discussion appropriate for groups of children from babies to 12-year olds. In addition, our full time youth worker organises a fun and hectic variety of groups, outings and events where young people and teenagers explore the world and the Spirit in an atmosphere of friendship and trust.
Music plays a particularly significant part in our worship. There is a traditional and formally-robed choir and a contemporary praise group. The church also hosts a number of concerts during the year, along with pantomimes, recitals, ‘Beer & Hymns‘, bands and bell-ringing (finest tower in this part of the North).
Mission and justice are key themes in the life of our church. We are a Fairtrade church and we are working towards being an Eco-congregation. Each month we allocate open plate collections to our Mission of the Month. An Amnesty Group meets regularly to highlight humans rights issues and encourage us all to write letters of support for people or groups suffering persecution.
The social life of our church includes regular events such as the Book Group and the Film Club.
All Saints does not mind whether you have a firm conviction or are full of doubts. We are here for anyone that wants to be a part of the Christian community and to make that journey.
