Austin Gunn : MMus, PGDipMus RSAMD, DipHE RCM, MNMSM, FSCO
Austin Gunn became Director of Music at All Saints in September 2009. As a church musician he started life as a chorister at St Paul’s, Whitley Bay. During his studies at the Royal College of Music, London, he was a member of the choir of St Augustine’s, Queen’s Gate, and the Damian Singers, singing at St Paul’s Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral, he was also a deputy chorister at Ealing Abbey and St Alban’s, Holborn. Whilst a student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama he a choral scholar at Paisley Abbey.
After returning to England in 2006 Austin took on the role of Director of Choral Outreach at Newcastle Cathedral and in 2009 he became Acting Director of the Cathedral Girls’ Choir directing them in weekly services and many concerts and he continues to teach singing to the choristers and choral scholars as well as direct the cathedral’s Saturday morning youth choirs.
As a solo singer Austin has performed in opera, oratorio and song at many of the major venues in the UK and beyond with world renowned conductors and ensembles and has recorded extensively for the BBC. For more information seewww.austingunn.webs.com
As a singing teacher Austin is Head of Studies at OperaLab, vocal specialist for Live Music Now auditions, teaches privately throughout the UK, and is visiting teacher of singing at the University of York and for Glasgow University Chapel Choir.
