Social and Events Group
There are eight members working on the Social and Events Committee – Ann Moorin, Karoline Wellborne, Hilary Douglas, and Tim Watkinson and co-opted members Phil Moorin, Pam Taylor and Valerie Hedley. At present there is no coordinator so any volunteers for this role are very welcome.
We aim to promote and strengthen fellowship in the congregation through a planned programme of social events, always mindful of what is already in other areas of church life.
We are not a specifically fund-raising group, but any profits we do make are donated to Church funds, unless otherwise specified.
The Social and Events Group has also taken over responsibility for organising the ‘Beer and Hymns’ and ‘Ales in Advent’ events. As the names suggest these are evening events at which the Church Hall is licensed to sell local Real Ale and wine, and the participants sing a number of popular hymns, each introduced by compère.
