Young Saints 6 to 8s

All Saints’ welcomes children and hopes that they will take a full part in the worship and life of the church.  We will help children to grow and develop in their faith and hope that, in turn, they will contribute to the life of the church as they grow older.

Young Saints’ gives children the opportunity to worship and explore their faith at an appropriate level, in a safe and secure environment.

The 6 – 8s group meets during the 9.30 Service, usually in the hall. The children start the morning in church with their families and are welcomed by the preacher.  After their welcome, the children are escorted to their group for age appropriate activities, usually related to the Gospel theme for the day. Activities might include stories, drama, art and craft, singing, prayer and discussion.  Children return to church in time for communion, so that they can rejoin their parents and receive a blessing or communion at the altar.  The children are often invited to share something about what they have been doing with the rest of the congregation toward the end of the service.

The group has a leader and a helper. Leaders and helpers are volunteers from the congregation who take turns to run the group.  A rota at the back of the church shows who is leading and helping each Sunday.  All leaders and most helpers have been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked.

Frequently asked questions

Can parents stay? Young Saints’ offers parents the opportunity to focus on their own worship in church whilst knowing that their children are being responsibly cared for and exploring their faith at their own level. However, if you feel that your child would benefit from you accompanying them for their first few visits until they settle in, please feel free to do so.

What if my child needs the toilet or is upset? Your child will be supervised in going to the toilet by one of the helpers who has been CRB checked.

If your child is upset, they will be brought back into church by one of the CRB-checked helpers.

How do I register my child? Parents are asked to complete a registration form, giving basic essential information.
