Young Saints

Young Saints worship group for children under 12yrs

We meet every Sunday for approximately 40-45 minutes during the 9.30am service, usually in the church hall or outdoors on the church green, weather permitting.

Currently, the group is all-age. Children join in the processional (first) hymn in church then are encouraged to leave their adults in church whilst they join the Young Saints group; however, adult carers are welcome to join us until their children are sufficiently confident to stay in Young Saints by themselves.

We usually base activities on the gospel reading used in the main service. A typical session will include an introduction to the theme for the day, the gospel story, often dramatised, discussion of the message for our lives today, a craft to take home as a reminder of the story, perhaps a game and a time of prayer. Chocolate is also often involved! Children return to the main service in time to receive a blessing during communion.

Before the recessional (last) hymn, children are invited to tell or show the congregation what they have been doing in the Young Saints group.

All children are welcome and there is no need to book.

A register is kept of children who attend each week for safeguarding purposes. The group has a designated DBS-cleared leader each week. A member of the congregation usually acts as an additional adult helper but we sometimes need to ask a parent to act as a second adult when no other volunteer is available.
